Pentathlon Canada recognizes athletes, volunteers, and leaders who have made significant contributions to the sport of modern pentathlon in Canada. Presented annually during the Canadian Modern Pentathlon National Championships, these awards celebrate excellence in competition, sportsmanship, leadership, volunteerism, and lifetime contribution to the sport. These awards are presented annually at the closing banquet held in conjunction at the Modern Pentathlon National Championships.

The Denise Fekete Memorial Fund Award

The Denise Fekete Memorial Fund Award is presented annually to the top Canadian Junior or Senior female athlete and the top Canadian Junior or Senior male athlete at the National Championships. The award recognizes outstanding competitive achievement and excellence in modern pentathlon.

Created in memory of Denise Fekete, who dedicated more than 25 years to the growth and development of pentathlon in Canada, the award honours athletes who demonstrate high performance and commitment to excellence within the sport.

The John Norton Memorial Award

The John Norton Memorial Award recognizes an athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship, respect, integrity, and consideration for others during the National Championships.

What makes this award especially meaningful is that the recipient is selected through votes cast by fellow athletes competing at the event. The award celebrates the values of fair play, positive leadership, and community spirit central to Pentathlon Canada and our sport.

Both the Denise Fekete and John Norton awards provide one-time awards to deserving athletes to help offset a portion of their training costs.

The Colin Peace Volunteer of the Year Award

The Colin Peace Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual whose volunteer contributions have had a significant and lasting impact on modern pentathlon in Canada.

Named in honour of Colin Peace, a dedicated supporter and builder of the sport, the award celebrates the vital role volunteers play in athlete development, event organization, officiating, club support, and community growth across the country.
