Melanie McCann has qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games by placing 4th at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

McCann started modern pentathlon in 2004 and has competed internationally for Canada on the National Junior Women’s Team and is now with the National Team. McCann is currently preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Games. She studied Civil Engineering Technologies at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary and now resides in Ottawa where she trains full time. McCann says has always been intrigued by the Olympic Games. She started competitive sports at a young age and was told that one day she could also go to the Olympics. She first thought of competing at the Olympic Games in swimming or track, but didn’t really fit the profile until she found the perfect fit with modern pentathlon.
